Images From 1995 Flooding in Medicine Hat



The following images are from the city of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.
First, some views of flooded streets and residents filling sandbags.

The next two images show the rapid rise in the water level in the South Saskatchewan river. The first photo was taken at around 10:50 a.m. and the second photo was taken two hours later.

Here are two images of the shear layer generated at the main channel-floodplain boundary showing vortices.

Finally, the flood water rising by the railway bridge.
